Linn, which received its town charter in 1314 already, stretched all the way down to the Rhine. Due to the incorporation to Krefeld in the year 1901, the construction of Krefeld's harbour was possible. The harbour was of great importance for the town's development.
The most important sight is the museum centre Linn castle. Its core is the old Cologne territorial castle. Its origin goes back to around the year 1200. Since the end of the 14th-century it was owned by the archbishops of Cologne. Today the facility, which was extended by the new building of the textile museum, is an expansive complex, which presents three sections to its around 300000 visitors annually:

The hunting lodge in the outer bailey was built around 1730. Today as Krefeld's town museum it has been furnished with valuable furniture from different style epochs, which stems in part from old Krefeld families.

The Andreas-Market is the secular centre of the medieval small castle town. At the right side of the market is the German Textile Museum situated. One half presents itself as a modern new building and the other half conveys its past as representative estate of a Linner mayor from the 18th-century.
